Reporting almost live from Isle of Man...well not really ....I have to say its a b***** to keep writing in a timely manner.....between sporadic inet connections....running around seeing and doing things at the end of the day I do try to sum the day but it usually slips into the next day and you of course forget things...like the other day I was a super star and on the big screen in Douglas at the Monster Drink Motocross Show. The asked if anyone ran the mountain on mad Sunday I put my hand up.....expecting a flood of hands....didn't happen....only a few...sooooo I guess I must have been taller than the rest of em and they spotted my lil hand and next thing I was being dragged to the front of the show....a big ass mic was stuck in me face along with a camera the size of a watermelon.....and a lovely gal started to ask me questions...seems that since it was raining not a lot did the run....hell cleared the road for me. I was on the big ass jumbo tron..... bucket list .... check lol. Seems they liked I was from Canada....I also reminded all the sports bike riders to get rid of the panties......less they were gals of course to which the crowd let of a bit of a laugh.....my head was huge on the screen.....and I was having a bad hair day....sigh.....no open mockery so I think I did Canada proud....
Either way today was a non race day sooooo got up went down for the typical english breakfast and somewhere in there we decided to go to the local vintage bike museum....seems a local guy collects bikes fixes em up. Deb and Andrew were heading home today but not till later. So we walked over to the big show....nice...bit of a walk lil drizzly out but not bad. Seems its a guy with a nice estate and its totally free just drop a few coins for charity on the way out. He had a few of everything almost all of them were runnable, he had a lot of different Triumphs that was for sure. The guys that road em had to be crazy...serious.....crazy....to race them....well daft comes to mind...they seriously put there lives on the line just riding em I think.
So after a bit we headed back, my English friends packed up n departed....great folks! I hopped on the bike and off I went to Peel....there be a castle there...guess what its called.....Peel castle.....cool huh? Anyways riding there is half the fun as the road is an absolute hoot.....I don't get it these folks are used to rain but they seem a bit shy to run around in it...I was having fun....roads are a bit slicker is all. The island is extremely green.....lots of sheep roaming around.....and the hedges are really tall on these lil roads kinda good cause it keeps the sheep in I suspect.
Peel is a great lil town on the ocean...has a harbor and lil narrow streets and as usual none of em run north south....so lil bit of wandering till I found what seemed to be the hub of activity...this was a gaggle of wet bikers standing around outside of the Manx museum....looking a bit dejected I must say....parked on the side walk....I so love doing that. Hopped off gave a wave and went in to check out the museum.
That took all of 15 minutes.....but interesting.....got a few pics...popped out and about that time I spotted a pub across the road....looked busy...all good indicators. Off I went found the last seat and ordered up some Mussels and crab cakes and Guinness of course.....chatted with the folks next to me and killed a wee bit of time.
So eventually left after having had a wicked good desert....a mint chocolate truffle....very good I must say. Wandered over to the castle .... it was closed.....a bit late oops....looked cool though....so decided I had played in the rain enough...time to head to the pub in KM.....
Tomorrow another race day wahooooooo just hope the weather clears....I think the electric bikes are suppose to go too..... they are suppose to break the 100 mph course average this year....that's a lot of amps........
