Ohhh ohhhhhhh its raining again.....but we shall see..if the race goes. They say that here the weather can change in a heart beat so I shall be the eternal optimist. Got some sleep....popped up for some of the English morning grub...and a little chit chat with David and Vivienne....and loaded up to find a spot to watch the race....
I already heard there was a delay so not in a huge rush so off I went...in the rain. Again rain gear is a good thing. I decide to wander down the lil roads and see if I popped into any cool spots. Off I went...in the rain....sure makes things green....so ended up popping into a place where the parliament still stands...oldest parliament in the world...its an open air field...set up by vikings I think...tres old.
So I wandered around the stump....and from there I spotted with me we lil eye...a pub.....wa hooo...off I went...lil early for a Guinness....so just a coffee....great guy running the show...couldn't understand a bleeming word he said...but they sounded real friendly like...I did get that he was from Scotland...man they are a bizarre bunch....in the sense that they seem to be English challenged..so sat about for a bit waiting out the delay and sure enough the clouds started to lift....so off I went in search of the spot...and voila...just up the road...found a Pub of all things LOL.
The Railway Inn....it seemed I could sit there yes sit as there were chairs and drink Guinness and watch the race with an awesome view...duhhhhhhhh okay. Parked the bike right next to it...pulled up a stump and a couple of guys were there and they struck up a great conversation. Good couple of guys that had been riding forever...showed me all the bikes they ever owned on an Ipad that whipped outta no where. They were a couple of art teachers..and not gay either....not that there is anything wrong with that...both married. Asked em to snap a pic of me and it was quite the episode of gettign the composition right....that or they were just to nice to say I was ruining the pic.
Sure enough the weather lifted and Whilst sipping Guinness (it was later now....) the race was announced to go. Wa hoooooo. We were probably 3 minutes from the start line at speed. great vantage point...so the waiting game....with Guinness.....not bad way to do it.
The place got pretty packed but we had chairs front n center cause we seemed to get there at just the right time so all was good. Hard to describe once the race started how the crowd gets all giddy....sure enough....you hear the revving in the distance and and they leader blasts pass.......great view....they come on with a slight right hander....then a hard left so the speeds aren't in the 180 zone more like 130 I think...you can tell its a lil slower section its more technical to make it through without hitting the wall....One after another blasted by....it was a great race...2nd closest in the TT history ) .7 seconds made the diff. Guy didn't win...he was out it seems....
Then the Zero bikes did their lap...pretty bizarre as you don't really hear em....just zip by with a bit of chain noise....and sure enough....they broke the 100 mph average course lap by a lot...104. So the winner took the 10,000 purse.
Side car time...they are still crazy...and it was interesting to watch the guys leaning to make the corner at the end...daft folk like I stated before....my reaction time for taking pictures was getting effected by the Guinness around this point I suspect so....had to taper back....
Then the last race of the day...the super stock...its really hard to tell the diff on the bikes from watching...but this is one that they can throw around a bit better. Again....the crowd goes wild...this time the leader was announced with a low level buzz by the helicopter chasing the him.......very cool...I am on the video somewhere.....lol. Great view of em blasting past and then it was done....had a grin on for a while.....
Time to celebrate with a nice din din in the local pub...off to Peel I went. Had some kinda steak n ale thing that had a big ass ..... thing on top....no other way to describe it...like a monster Yorkshire pudding...but delicious. Had a pint..... n wandered back to KM.... needed to plan for tomorrow....weather forecast not good.... I may need to see if I can get to England sooner....check out merry ole London......I've seen some cool races so far..got lucky with the weather but........my luck may run out....
