Well after kind of chilling out for a bit in Welington by going to a museum and stuff we were ready to take on more adventure and this began with the delights of Lake Taupo, the largest lake in NZ.
This is the home of the Tongariro crossing which is a 9 hour hike through the middle of two volcanoes (one being Mount Doom from The Lord of the Rings) and is supposed to be in the top ten best one day walks in the world. This is probably the thing I was looking forward to the most so you can imagine my disapointment when we arrived in Tapo top find that it had been cancelled for the day we were going to do it on, due to bad weather conditions, bummer, we decided to stick around and try to do it at a later date! No such luck! We've been here three days and can't afford to hang around any longer as the weather is showing no signs of clearing, gutted! But I suppose the Inca trail will just have to do!
Next on the agenda is white water rafting but with a difference, you're on a rubber ring in pitch black caves with gloworms and stuff. Oh yeah and this is after abseiling 40 feet into it! Crazy!
