Arrived in Queensland on Sunday after long journey from Tasmania to port Douglas via Brisbane and cairns. Very windy when arrived so postponed trip to Great Barrier Reef until Wednesday. Hope made right decision as weather really good Monday and Tuesday but still very windy. Slightly better for tomorrow but going anyway as may never cross this way again . It has been so rough they have not always let you in water and also sea so churned up visibility not good. Hey ho! Went for a walk today on 4 mile beach in front of hotel but no swimming because of stingers (jellyfish) with instructions to use vinegar and seek medical help. Red flag flying. Very hot and humid. Also told to beware of salt water crocs on beach. ( not quite Blackpool)

Gave up looking for wildlife and went to wildlife park today . Very good - managed to stroke snake and baby croc who had his mouth taped!
