Woomera is situated up the Stuart Highway, in desert South Australia. For a small isolated community it has featured widely in Australian and world press. Originally the home of Australia's space program and more recently as a detention centre.

Mt Gambier is home to the Blue Lake. The lake turns a vivid blue at a certain times of the year. A great benefit of the Blue Lake is that it is very accessible, being right in town. The lake also has walking paths around the perimeter to enable all aspects of the lake to be seen.

We stayed in cold old SA for 3 weeks and as Heather's Dad's health seemed to be on the improve we set of again, doing a similar diagonal trip through the outback, but on entirely different roads.

Innaminka is reported to be South Australia's most isolated town, and it is certainly isolated. On the way we called in at Haddon's corner which marks the South Australia and Queensland boundary, it is a very uninviting spot.
