Innaminka is reported to be South Australia's most isolated town, and it is certainly isolated. On the way we called in at Haddon's corner which marks the South Australia and Queensland boundary, it is a very uninviting spot. We also visited the tree where members of the ill fated exploration party of Burke and Wills buried provisions. Unfortunately the provisions were not discovered, resulting in the ultimate demise of Burke and Wills.
Innaminka is based on the Cooper river which has permanent water and fish. The fish are replenished when the river floods which is very spasmodic!! Often when the Cooper floods it results in Lake Eyre filling which is a spectacular sight.
