Yay skies have cleaned, the anchors pulled up and we are off, its not brilliant sunshine but anything is better than yesterday. In the past Omis was notorious because of the pirates whose ships have been for centuries a symbol of retaliation, courage and strength. This ancient tow with its churches and fortresses is s silent stone reminder of the power and the might of infamous pirates. It is a beautiful part of the Adriatic Coast. We wander the streets and climb to the top of the tower for an impressive view over the city. A small boats takes us up the river, the rain threatens again and I wish I had bought some warm clothes!!! The only bird life we say were a few ducks, joking with the Aussies a few Croc's would have made it a bit more exciting. We pulled into the destination and were served some local wine and small donuts - mmm interesting combination, there they were making traditional bread also with an open fire.
We pushed onto Split no swimming stops today, the weather is still not great. Wind has picked making it difficult to stop for the planned swim stops along the way
We pull into Split and are given a guided city tour and then we wander the streets looking for a bar to have drink. We stumble across a great place and then the mad Canadian girls turn up and we are joined. There is loads of laughter and fun. That evening we find an amazing restaurant named Mazzgoon, as we listen to the owner promoting her restaurant advises locally grown vegetables everything prepared onsite and organic we don't hesitate. We choose 3 entrees to share and they were all delicious, homemade sheep’s cheese, char grilled vegetables and octopus salad with broad beans – yep we loved it. The ambience was wonderful, we wished we were dressed up and not so tired as the menu was amazing.
