We are up early and headed to Geneva to drop off our fantastic Peugeot 2008 what a great car we have driven over 3000km's and can't believe how economical it's been. A 1.6L diesel we only filled it up about 4 times for memory. We fitted both our bikes in the back with bags etc, it's been best way to have freedom and discover the different regions of France, getting to where we wanted to go with no real time frames and then getting on our bikes and amazing value. The built in GPS has been invaluable and stopped alot of discussions about which way to go!! So off we head to Geneva airport making sure we stay in France to get there so we don't get stung for the Swiss Fee to drive on their highways, we do take a wrong turn and end up in Switzerland for a few km's along back roads and there is a noticeable difference. Smooth drop off - what a professional outfit, I am so pleased to have experienced this first hand and will really encourage people coming to Europe to use Peugeot Eurolease in the future.
So an Easyjet flight takes us to Dubrovnik - mmmm Easyjet well it was the only direct flight at the time needed - no my preference and as the announcement comes across the flight is delayed I'm thinking - bummer. Due to technical issues they downsize the aircraft and ask for volunteers to go on standby as there are no enough seats 250 Euros person will be given and a hotel - tempting but we have a date with a small ship and have to get there, so on we get and arrive an hour later than schedule so not a bad outcome. Our pick up runs smoothly and we are delivered to Princess Aloha a beautiful 38 berth small ship. We unpack and go for a walk, find a place for a local beer and a nice salad - yay fresh food we are in the Med. I can smell sardines on a charcoal BBQ cooking and wanted a closer look - mmmm my favourite. We find them and are waved in by some local fishermen. We have discovered the "Batala Club" a group of guys all chatting, drinking local family wine while one man the expert cooks the sardines that have been rubbed in salt are grilling, once cooked they smoother them in olive oil, garlic and parsley ohalala - take, take you must try they say I take one, they laugh you must take more, 5 is the minimum - I can't refuse and oblige. Red wine from my family too says another man, enjoy, enjoy food is for sharing. Unbelievable!! I introduce Pascal to the club members they say no no he is Borak - so he is renamed BORAK in Croatia we are told we must redesign he clothes, cut his suit lower. We chat and laugh, one guy talks of the war and it brings tear to my eyes when he tells me the story of how the Croatians were defending themselves against the Serbs, - a terrible time for these people, he had lost his brother and he said they can't forgive but we must live together.
We are late back to the boat for the welcome talk and just get the end and meet our fellow sailing companions for the week and fall into bed for another late night.
