Travel Tales!
So we were in Memphis next... after travelling 24hrs..as we had to greyhound it to Dallas first before flying to Memphis ( Flying is very much prefered to Greyhound!). Memphis is another very cool place quite similar to New Orleans in a way but areas are newer.
First night there we ended up in a motel in the middle of nowhere. First experience with unhelpful people... there are apparantly no buses or public transport in memphis and its $25 for a taxi... welll thats not actually the case but hey... live and learn.
next two nights found a fab motel in the center of everything (on Union Avenue, but didn't see the ghost of Elvis)... right by the basket ball and baseball stadiums!! - so took this opportunity to go see a basket ball game which was a wicked atmosphere.. Memphis Grizzlys v Portland Blazzers. Grizzlys won. Andy got a bit carried away taking photo's of the cheerleaders.
Went to the famous Beale Street where Elvis originally started his career... usually packed but it was mid week so didn't get to see it in full swing like in New Orleans... but was still cool.
Went to visit Elvis Presleys house!! - another great place.. definatley not a tacky as we possibly expected... got lots of pics of the house and his outfits, records and his grave... its quite bizzare how much you feel like you know him by the time you leave even though we don't really now that much about him... in the local area the king definatley still lives as they say!!
Next flight to Chicago... more luxury... no more greyhound buses until after toronto - woooohhhhhoooo.
