Another FABULOUS day!!! Took a day trip up through the rainforest to Cape Tribulation! Our guide was called Kendal and he was great! So enthusiastic and knowledgable!!! He drove us along the Captain Cook Highway and we first stopped at the Rainforest Habitat where we saw loads of creatures! Firstly the rare Cassowary which is a large bird like an emu but with more colour and it got a bit angry at our group. Apparently it is known to have killed a few people with it large talons so we quickly moved away because the fence between us was only waist high! We also saw kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, crocodiles, cockatoos and lots of other birds. Then onto Mossman Gorge where we swam in really clear water and you could see fish in the river. Had a bit of a spiel from Kendal here about Rainforest trees and animals. Lunch was in an outback cafe and our guide had to check there we're no snakes in the topilets because apparently they go in there often! Luckily there wasn't! Then the Daintree River Cruise to try and spot wild crocodiles. We only saw one on the river bank,.. i think she was called Lizzy. On this cruise we also saw a Great Billed Heron... apparently only 500 left in the world! And some people even saw a Kingfisher.. also rare to see one! Only a few days area near this place a little 5 year old local boy was eaten by a crocodile, apparently the crocodile has been caught but the parents wanted it kept in a zoo rather than killed! Crossed the Daintree River by ferry and then onto Cape Tribulation. On the way we stopped at a look out where we could see rainforest all the way to the ocean. Saw a whopper of a spider at Cape Tribulation which weaves a golden web, and then saw a dealy spider too! A long but great day! Kendal told us so much cool stuff its hard to write it all on here but we'll tell you it all when we get back (if we can remember it all!).
