Next day we were ready to leave for our next, and final, destination - Sri Lanka. We took a taxi to the airport which is nearly an hour's drive from the centre of Mandalay and the first leg of our flight left on time. Budget airline Air Asia to Bangkok where we had to collect our luggage and go through immigration and then check in again. We had a 5-hour layover so plenty of time to kill. Our next flight was also with Air Asia to Colombo where we had booked a taxi to pick us up as we were arriving late. Eventually we got to our hotel around midnight and just went straight to bed. Rightly or wrongly, we had decided not to spend any time in the City and planned to leave the next day up to the north of Sri Lanka.
