Dubai, we had been here before and it was just a 3 day stopover but we bought "daysaver" metro tickets and determined to get our money's worth we travelled miles all over the city and beyond the normal tourist points we knew from before. On day one, I encountered the most annoying person ever, who sat next to me for 20 stations, fell asleep on my shoulder and snored the entire distance into my left ear.

There must be some kind of "annoyance" competition on the Dubai metro because on day 2, for about 18 metro stations a 4ft 6 inch midget, stood next to my seat and loudly recited a prayer mantra into my right ear…..over and over again, whilst the "call to prayer" assailed my left ear incessantly for the entire journey ….. turns out the day 1 man was not the most annoying person ever.

Bizarrely, one of the highlights of our stopover was that we got to ski in the middle of this desert city, albeit indoors but a black run nevertheless- No alcohol for three days ……. time to continue our travels…….
