Tuesday, June 4: I slept late, then spent the remainder of the morning catching up on some volunteer stuff by email. In the late afternoon I went with Kate and Sapir to the theatre. The Hirsch Theater is in Beit Shmuel, the building where Kate and Ofer got married. I didn't realize there was a theatre there. It is very nice and seats about 300.
Now I am trying to find words to describe the production of The Secret Garden, and Sapir's part in it. She and the actor who plays Lily, the dead wife, are the leads of the entire production. Sapir has about six costume changes, is in all but a few scenes, and is completely at ease on stage both acting and singing. I was enthralled by her performance. The theatre was full, the audience fully engaged, and Sapir got quite a few laughs and lots of applause. Those of you who know me well will know I was weeping by the curtain call!
I am including a video clip with this entry. I hope you enjoy it.
Wednesday, June 5: I stayed home with Sapir this morning while the rest of the family went to work and school. I had hoped she would sleep late, but she was awake just after eight o'clock. we had a nice morning together playing quiet games, reading, and delving a bit into the Poskanzer Family Tree on the Internet. She was excited to know she is in the tenth generation on the tree.
Kate came home in the early afternoon, and I went out to lunch with my cousin Daphna Poskanzer.
She picked me up and we went to the newly renovated Jerusalem Train Station. It has been transformed into a museum, cafes, small a kiosks for vendors, and a walking/bike trail is being developed which will go around the city when complete. We ate at an outdoor cafe and caught up on family stuff since we saw each other in 2012. We keep in touch by Facebook, but in person is so much better.
In the late afternoon, Daphna and I went to the theatre to see the show...she for the first time, I for the second. It was the matinee and there were lots of families. Ofer brought Savyon and Keshet. Again, a full house audience was very engaged. I came home with Ofer and the girls while Kate helped Sapir get ready for the second show...yes, two two hour plus shows in the same day. Ofer went back, and I got Savyon and Keshet to bed.
If I ever had any doubt of the wisdom of making such a long trip for such a short time, those doubts were dispelled when I saw Sapir on the stage.
I stayed up to have a meal ready for Sapir when she got home just after eleven tonight...tomorrow Kate and I are going to the Old City, the market Mechane Yehudah, and In the evening Kate and Ofer will go to the theatre with Sapir while I babysit and entertain Hadassah
and Yosef Btzur for a late dinner.
Life is good.

Linda Bantz Loved this charming young lady. What a joy it must have been. Amazing how far away the family is and yet in today's world, how close. You are blessed to be there with them but they, too are blessed to have a loving mother and grandmother. Write again when you return home. Love, Linda B.
