Couldn't potentially leave South America without being in a slight traffic dink!
We treated ourselves to another all day bus journey on the cheapest company could find; 8 hour journey for £4 each.
The bus driver liked to erratically use his breaks at every opportunity and so after just twenty minutes into our journey he decided to drive into the back off a lorry smashing the driver's windscreen. Sat there for a good hour and then drove on regardless switching the bus in the next town. A minor bump but the breaks stunk. Stopping in the middle of nowhere they crowded in from their crop fields to get in on the action.
People were pretty much using this bus company to move house. Waiting for the bus with mattresses, bed frames and at least five bags in tow, its the removals bus. First class it was not, we broke another rule. I don't like to assume the worst but i held my bag close to my chest for the whole 8 hours before stepping off in Cusco city.
Covering so much land by bus is beginning to take its toll, it becomes quite draining, especially during the day and we again arrived to our destination tired and hungry.
Reaching our hostel to find out there was no room for us at the Inn even though I had booked was a bit of a last straw but luckily they sorted us out for the night in a room opposite. I have a pretty short temper when it comes to people that work in hostels, they are so disorganised it's frustrating. If they haven't got your booking dates incorrect they are trying to overcharge you, intentional or not...?? so that's where I get out my quote and annoy them im sure, as if we don't get overcharged enough in this continent.
