Because we had to get a lot of groceries to last the week and a bit we're here, and Zach and I were really craving some fresh Ahi tuna, we spent the afternoon out and about. Drove into Kailua Kona to go to local supermarkets. It's amazing some of the things that the US gets that Canada doesn't. Mostly things with a lot of fat and sugar. (Like Reese's cake batter - whaaaaat?) Zach found some things to do wraps with, so that's on the menu for later.
We even stopped at Costco on our way back. Holy s*** they have amazing deals on food and alcohol. I mean, I've been to the US before, just not when I was legal there. I've heard about how cheap booze is, but I guess it's one of those 'see to believe' type things. If only there weren't restrictions on how much liquor you're allowed to bring back to Canada. Half my suitcase would be rum and tequila. (I also wish I'd been quick enough to snap a picture of the gorgeous roster that was wandering the Costco parking lot. Roaming roosters just scream 'tropical place' to me.)
We found some beautiful tuna that we're saving for tomorrow. Just snacks of roasted chicken and Kale salad for tonight. That, and we get to watch our first Hawaii sunset off the lanai. Zach and I went down to the hot tub and pool to sit with our feet in the water. Lounged around outside for a bit before deciding if we wanted to get things done tomorrow we'd need to be up a bit earlier.
