Where we were going for supper was actually about a hour drive outside of Tallinn in the woods. On our drive out there, we passed some old bronze-age grave sites. We turned into a side road eventually that went into the forest. We even crossed a old iron bridge that wasn't rated to carry bus weight. We finally got out in the middle of the forest at a resort called Raudsilla.
Before going to supper, they gave us a tour of the place. Although it was a little weird at first, the more we saw, the more interesting it got. We went into several cabins to see the cosy sleeping arangements. And they even had little two-person teepee's out in the woods. We stopped by an outdoor cooking setup where a chef had fresh baked rye bread and herb and garlic butter waiting for us (along with a fresh pickle). We munched on that as we walked through the woods.
There were also a bunch of steam room teepees of all different sizes. And the area was just really beautiful with the little stream and the bridges to cross over. All of their facilities were outside, so they even had a peeteepee, with a 'tree' for the boys to pee on. And although it was beautiful and nice to walk around a bit, we were all ready to have some supper, so they brought us to a giant structure, teepee in shape again, for dinner.
There was a full buffet out waiting for us. We grabbed plates and food, and found places to sit. The seats were really nice because they were next to big windows with views out to the stream next to the hall. The lights were covered with big, hand carved shades, and there was a fire going in the centre of the room. The food was absolutely delicious. For supper, we had park, duck and potatoes with some dill cottage cheese.
Dessert was even better because it was blueberry soup (don't spill that on your clothes!) and orange curd. It tasted fantastic and I wish I could have had a bucket of it, even though I was full from supper. After supper, we took another walk down to a different part of the stream where we hung out for a while and took some pictures. We sand a couple songs for our hosts as usual.
We took a lot of pictures while waiting. A group one in the woods, a few on the cute bridge over the stream, and some from the hill above the stream. When we were ready to go again, we got back on the bus that took us to one last stop. At that point, the sun was just starting to set and the golden light was making everything look absolutely beautiful.
We stopped at a church not too far away. Apparently the concert we were doing the next night, some of the profits were going to go towards rebuilding part of the church that had burned down. They let us go into the burned building to look around. I don't think I've ever been in a burned building like that before. The bubbled paint on the walls was really interesting, and the so were the scorch marks and falling beams.
We went into the actual church as well to look around. There was some really pretty roses outside as well as a nice moss wall. But I think everyone was tired and we eventually finished our drive back into Tallinn. It was pretty much straight to bed after that because it was going to be an early morning.
