Today we flew into Hong Kong from Brisbane. Yvonne was there to greet us. It was great to see a familiar face. Walking out of the Honker's airport the heat and humidity was a bit of a shock. We are staying with Yvonne in her unit on Tsing Yi island which is in the New Territories. Her apartment complex is made up of 12 towers and about 6,000 people live in the complex. The ground floor is actually 6 levels up and to get up there from the road by car you have to drive up a spiral driveway which can make you a little nauseous. Underneath the complex on the lower levels is a 4 level shopping centre with heaps of restaurants. The Tsing Yi train station is also right under the apartments. Yvonne has organised Octopus cards for us which we can use on all the trains and buses and can even use them instead of cash at 7 Eleven, Maccas, the bakery, etc. Its an awesome idea. Apparently the technology was developed by an Australian company and it would be great to have at home.
