All those of you that have seen the odd photo / message posted on Facebook recently will already know that we have reached the 100 day mark, cycled on the moon and been hit by a car. We are okay, but Titty is in intensive care. More about the collision on the next blog, let's rewind first. Tuesday we finished day 100 at Novi Vinodloski, 12 countries visited (not 11, my mistake on Facebook), distance pedaled 2832 miles / 4557 Kms, ascent 132,000 feet / 40,000 metres. We have recently been putting in long days with lots of climbing. We decided to cross from the mainland to the island of Pag. We set off at 8.15 am to get the 1.15 ferry, we knew it would be tight. A nagging headwind reduced our anticipated average speed. We didn't get to the port until 1.30, the timetable had actually been changed to 1.25pm so we only just missed it. It was a cold grey day so we dithered until 3.10 pm waiting for the next ferry. We were offered whisky to warm us up but declined. We rolled off the ferry onto a moon like landscape, where did all the vegetation go? Getting the later ferry meant arriving as the sun was setting. Another long day planned for the following day. We have noticed that everyone we meet in the countries we have cycled through refer to Titty as 'tandem' it seems that they use the English word as they do not have a word in their own language. There are other things that they surely must have their own words for but all over Europe still insist on using English - 'Stop' signs, 'Camping' signs, Car wash, fast food and sex shop are the ones we see again and again!
