My last stop...
I arrived in Perth this morning and whilst waiting for my night bus to Monkey Mia, I found a locker room in the train station to dump my stuff and explore the city on a walking tour led by two elderly lady volunteers, bless them! After the tour, the ladies told us about Heirison Island just outside the city centre. So myself and Gary took a walk. We strolled around and ate our lunch with all the Kangaroos lounging around in the shade.
After Monkey Mia, I came back down to Perth for a couple of days.
We rented some bikes and I spent a day cycling a 10km winery route with Gary and Larissa, at each km there was a free tasting, of wines, honey, chocolate, nuts and nougat, and cider. I think it's fair to say, for someone who doesn't drink wine, I did well... We all managed to stay on the bikes till the end but we'd had enough!!
My last day in Aus, I met up with Lorraine, who I'd met in Monkey Mia. We went for a drink down the London Lanes of Perth and then on to see the views over Perth City and Bay from Kings Park. We walked through the Honour Avenues, where the roads are lined with trees either side, each one having a plaque naming and dedicated to the service men and woman of war that lost their life's in battle or from their injuries. It was good to see the prisoners of war, that I'd seen in Borneo museum, honoured here too.
