Day two of the Inka Jungle Tour...
Today was great, really hard work, but a fantastic achievement :-)
We had breakfast and left the hostel at 7am, our guide arranged a Peruvian Limosine to take us the first part... 13 of us standing in the back of a pick up truck, racing along a dirt track :-) I think this was put on for us, due to the fact I had just come out of hospital, as it cut out an hour of unnecessary walking!
The first part of the trek was all up hill, it was so so hard, and so out of breathe, BUT I was not the last person, which gave me encouragement!
We walked along side mountain edges on thin narrow paths, we trekked through the high Amazon Jungle, along the river, and basically rock climbed to a cable cart!! This would never have been allowed in England, with health and safety standards etc! It was pretty crazy and hairy!! One footing wrong and a lot could've gone wrong!!
The cable cart was a metal tray, which two people sat in, crossed legged at a time, and was pulled high up across a river valley by an old guy!
We then made it to the hot springs, which were incredible, so warn and all natural, a well deserved relaxation after the 9 hour trek :-)
During the trek we passed some native houses and met the locals. There are no roads around these parts, so the locals have to do this trek everyday for school, or to get supplies and carry them back!
After dinner we went for a briefing for tomorrow's zipline.... Looks like fun!!
