Rest Day / Reptile Park:
Today we had another rest day in Alice, and dad had plans to go to the reptile park. When we arrived we found out the front of the reptile park had a ginormous statue. It was. The first reptiles we saw were the Geckos. We walked into the room and my eyes took a while to adjust to the darkness. Most of the Geckos were hiding but some of them were up on the top of their exhibit were the heat was coming from. Geckos are cold blooded reptiles which means they need to gain there own heat from the sun or in this case from their heaters. We had a talk from one of the ladies that worked there. She showed us a Central Bearded Dragon, a Blue Tongue Lizard And my favourite one a big constrictor snake. She also gave us a talk on snake safety. Telling us how you should stand still when you see a snake and not to run away. Then we went out into the two reptile rooms next door and I saw my first ever Frilled Neck Lizard. I also saw the worlds most poisonous but shyest snake ever, the Inland Taipan. Then we went out the back to find a massive 3.3 metre saltwater crocodile. There I also saw my first Thorny Devil. They are much smaller than I had thought though. They also had Australia’s largest lizard the Penerite. So after the reptile park we went back home and lazed around at our campground.
