As soon as you crossed the border, you knew you were in a different country. To my surprise there was quite a distinct difference between Vietnam and Cambodia. Here was a lot poorer, which is pretty hard since Vietnam is poor! The people are a lot darker skinned, and don't look quite so eastern.
