I have now been away over a month and it has gone so quickly it is scary, still no tan tho which is disappointing!!
Since my last blog i have been in Zambia. First stop was the capital Lusaka which for a large city seemed pretty small and quiet with only a few main roads. It was australia day while we were there so all the aussies on me trip were pretty happy and giving us brits a bit of a ribbing but think we gave as good as we got.
We then headed south to lake Kariba where we spent 3 days in a campsite right on the beach and a couple of days moored on a houseboat further along the lake. At the fisrt place we saw hippo and crocodile coming right up to the shores of the lake so swimming was a no no! Went to a huge dam (Kariba dam) which i think is one of the biggest in the world damming up the zambezi to form this huge lake. Croosed into zimbabwe briefly on the damn but didn't get me passport stamped so going back tomorrow to see vic falls from the zimbabwe side.
A lot of drinking and chilling was involved at the lake felt like a proper holiday for a few days, gonna lay of the drink for a bit now tho hopefully.
From the lake we headed to Livingstone, on the Zambian side of victoria falls. My first view was on a helicopter ride over the falls which was absolutely immense, it would have been cool just to go in the chopper but to have these amazing falls as a backdrop was just blinking amazing. Went to the falls on the pathways the next day and got absolutely drenched, the sheer power of the falls meant the spray created was incredible, couldn't have been wetter if i'd have jumped in a bath with my clothes on!! Hiked down to the bottom to a place called the boiling pot for great views of the Zambezi and gorge created by the power of the water.
Went on a sunset boozecruise last night (tho don't remember the sunset!) where we saw more crocs and hippos waiting in case anyone stumbled overboard.
Last day in zambia today before heading to Zimbabwe for tomorrow morning to see the falls from the other side of the border and then onto Botswana tomorrow afternoon to the chobe national park.
Have read about all the snow back home worst for 18 years and all that malarchy, which sounds pretty cool but to rub it in its in the 30s out here, HA HA
