Since my last blog i have moved from Livingstone, spending a surreal morning in Zimbabwe seeing victoria falls from the Zim side and wandering around the surrounding town. The town was like a ghost town with plush hotels and fancy restaurants with no one (or no one white) around due to the politics of Mugabe. The hawkers and beggars that were there seemed to attach themselves to us being one of the few tourists in the town, but they were genuinely friendly and not pushy at all, just caught up in a bad situation.
I then moved on to Botswana for an evening river cruise along the chobe river, where we saw lots of hippos and crocodiles probably the best viewing of hippos we have head so far both in and out of the water.
We then moved ontio the Okavango delta which in a funny kind of way has been one of the highlights of the trip so far. we got mokoros (Canoes) through swamp land into a delta island in the absolute middle of no where and just cruised, lazed and walked around this delta for 3 days looking and the flora and forna of the area, seeing much animal prints and animal poo, but the animals were hiding somewhere!! It was so relaxing i was half asleep the whole time i was there and probably could easilyu have spent a good week there doing nothing.
Now back in the town of Maun, about to go for a flight over the delta in a few hous in a 5 seater plane. Just taken my travel sick pill so hopefully will be able to enjoy it without getting sick, but should be a great experience, hopefully spot some game but the countryside is so nice and peaceful thast i won't be disappointed if we don't.
Roughly about halfway on my african adventure now soi hope the second half is as good as the first half has been
