Blog cont ……..
Thursday evening we met up with Joe who is the son of our friends Anthony and Surinder. Joe has been over here since November and is staying just across the harbour. It was so brilliant to see him, we had dinner together followed by a few beers in an Irish bar and a little gig - not sure that it did much for Joe's street cred! Joe left us to catch the ferry back and we went back to the bar for another boogie till the early hours (again totally out of character!).
Having seen Auckland's key sights today we decided to go over to one of the Islands and took the ferry over the harbour (35 mins ) to Waiheke Island. It was a great trip in the sunshine, a lovely and somewhat affluent island where we visited Oneroa Village. Managed our first dip in the ocean and despite a ton of sunscreen the New Zealand sun got to us so that we are now 'glowing' nicely.
On our return from the island we met up with family of Sue's old school Julie; Hannah, Julie's daughter in law with her Dad John and her gorgeous little girls Isabella and Millie. We and had fish & chips on the harbour quay (or Fush and Chups as pronounced here) and although we missed Julie's son, Paul it was great to meet his girls.
Off to pick up Campervan tomorrow and continue on our travels over the North Island.
Be in touch soon xxx
