After an awful trip from Singapore to Melbourne with Qantas, old plane, old crew and even older food, had an hour delay in connection from Melbourne to Auckland but as it turned out arrived in Auckland only 20 minutes later than scheduled. (Now 13 hours time difference from UK!!).

We got to the hotel late afternoon, pleasant surprise as it was on the Marina close to the city and has a real buzz to it. However Tom did have a little moan about our first room (for those of you that know Tom well we realise that you will find that hard to believe?!) but to give him his due he did get us upgraded to an amazing 1 bedroom apartment, with kitchen, lounge, study and laundry area……. Result!

Lovely dinner on the first night in the Marina, got up early next day and took the city tour taking in the Museum which boasts the largest Maori collection of artefacts, the Sky Tower which is now the most iconic feature to Auckland's skyline and wandered through old Auckland. A really lovely day.

NOW this is the most exciting part…….. our boys had laid down the gauntlet for us to do a bungee jump and we must admit to being totally adverse to the whole idea but once we had braved it up to the top of the Tower we got chatting to a lovely young girl who managed to coerce us into doing a controlled bungee jump from the top of the tower!!!!! Terrifying but exhilarating and we did it with no injuries to boot. Photographic evidence to follow as we are presently unable to download the photos.
