Well, from Merida, we headed of to spend a night in Campeche, and meet up with the people from our hostel in Merida, turns out basically they got to Campeche really late the night before, didn´t get let into the hostel, so went straight onto Palenque, so we still touched down for a night, even though there really wasn´t alot to do in Campeche at all. Really, so we ate some more street food wondered round and then just sat and talked to the other travellers about Mexico and the best places to go. The next night we headed off on a night bus to Palenque, where we would arrive after a decent nights sleep , well so was the plan, turns out Mexicans love building speed bumps all over their motorways, limited the top speed of the coach at any one point to about 50km and hour, absolutely f***** brilliant... So we arrived 6 in the morning at El Panchan, a little collective of ´Hostels´/ Shacks on the outskirts of the jungle. Grab a couple of beds in a shack, and sleep for 10 hours. Wake up, contact our travel guides, arrange for them to pick us up the next day head off into the ruins at Palenque and a couple of Waterfalls which were located in the jungle in the next valley. The ruins were pretty cool, except very tiring climbing up and down all the pyramids, especially as we were quite a way above sea level. Swam in the waterfalls, jumped off a few of them, couldn´t get any photos though, camera isn´t very waterproof. After that we headed of to San Cristobal, where we are now, as there wasn´t very much to do in Palenque, in the middle of the jungle............suprisingly. Staying at this really cool hostel here, italian owners, got a dog called manolo and a little puppy aswell, and 2 cats, that all come and sit on you whenever you sit down on the sofa to chat with anyone. Apart from that not much else has happened, except i have been bitten even more by mosquitos, not eaten anything other than Chicken and bread. Gonna spend 4 days in San Cristobal, looking around the city, supposed to be quite cool, and maybe some boat/raft trips down a river in a local canyon.
