Disaster has struck - my hairdryer has has blown up, in addition my red/pink hair has now gone a rather murky rhubarb colour, and on top of that I have no make up - so please don't judge me by any of the pics you see over the next 3 months, it's not going to be a pretty sight!
That aside, the first 3 days in Chiang Mai have been great. It's been 32-34c every day (I have burnt my left shoulder - another good look I'm sporting).
The Loi Kratong festival is currently on and the last two evenings there have been thousands of Chinese lanterns let off into the sky (check out the pics), plus a parade and hundreds of people in the streets dancing and eating, not to mention kids setting off fireworks everywhere you look which is slightly scary!!
Another death defying activity we have experienced is trying to cross the roads here, there's mopeds and tuk tuks everywhere and they don't stop for lights, so you just have to kind of close your eyes, step out into the road and hope for the best!
Ooh, and before I forget, they serve porridge with prawns here, I haven't had any (nor do I intend to) just felt I had to share that!
Went to rooftop bar last night overlooking start of parade route and mountains, it was very chilled out place - you had to take your shoes off and go up to this little raised area on top of building with cushions on the floor - although we didn't dare stand up or lean on anything as everything it was pretty shakey!
Now off to Thai cookery lesson x
