Now, how to get 10 backpacks worth of stuff into one back pack...
It's the end of our 3 1/2 month adventure around Asia and I was finally allowed to shop! Meaning I've chucked away pretty much everything I bought on the trip with me to try fit it all in, including all of Robins things (although he hadn't realised his bag is full of silk scarves yet).
Not that its all about the shopping of course...in summary, we've been to 27 cities, stayed in 35 different guesthouses/hostels/hotels (of varying quality), we've taken 14 flights, 20 boats, spent approx 100hours on coaches and enjoyed numerous rockshaw/Tuk Tuk/moto/cyclo rides, oh, and also ridden one elephant (never again!).
We've eaten Thai curry until its come out of our ears and even learnt to cook it. We've trekked through jungles and up mountains, we've bamboo rafted, white water rafted and tubed down rivers. We've kayaked and snorkelled, learnt to dive and swam with sharks, turtles and numerous fish. We've seen temples, oh so many temples, we've visited museums, prisons and heard about the atrocities of war in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos and met the people who lived through it.
We've seen the sunset on many a beautiful place and have laid on a beach or two. We've met lots of interesting people and drank lots of dubious tasting alcoholic beverages with them.
I've had plenty of massages and an equal amount of sunburn, bites and food poisoning! And don't get me started on some of the toilets I've had to visit, all i can say is thank god for hand sanitizer!
And above all, Robin and I have literally spent less than a day apart since the beginning of November (which is only when I'm in a shop or having a massage), and we haven't killed each other, now THAT is an achievement! If only he weren't so god damned brown while I'm still white as the driven snow!
We've had an amazing time and would do it again in a heartbeat, but we are about ready to come home...and eat baked beans and marmite! And real cheese, and cereal, proper ham, and hummus, oh, and a nice glass of red wine, and a good cup of tea...sorry, missing food quite a lot...obviously I miss everyone reading this blog too, which is of course the real reason I'm looking forward to getting back to England...but if you were holding a shepherds pie that would just be amazing ;)
Tina (tired and wearing socks and flip flops in Dubai airport - its cold and I haven't slept, dont judge me) x
