Finally arrived in Nha Trang after the slowest train journey ever....supposed to get in at 9pm, instead we arrived at 3am. Nha Trang is a beach resort place with lots of bars and clubs so we partied for a few days and got drunk at the rather posh Sailing Club. Went on the obligatory booze cruise which involved dancing on the boat to the sounds of the local 'boy band' and drinking shots of rice wine served from the floating bar. All very fun and not all all unsafe or irresponsible. Visited an aquarium, which was quite an interesting experience drunk, (think the photos are a bit of a giveaway) and spent an hour in the middle of the South China Sea which was great until I managed to get stung by a jellyfish which left big swollen lumps all over my legs and belly. Ended up being wiped down with lime and ice by the "Dr Monkey" whilst other boatgoers looked on in badly disguised disgust. All top notch fun.
Spent the next day recovering at the local mud spa wallowing in well, mud, and chilling out by the mineral pool and mineral waterfall. Very strange sitting in a bath up to your waist in warm mud and then cooking yourself in the sun until the mud hardens and cracks...but at least its good for your skin....well, thats what the ticket man said anyway.
After a few more hours on the bus we spent a few days hanging out in Mui Ne - a 10km stretch of beach - and tried out sand sledding on the famous White Dunes. Its basically a random pile of sand in the middle of nowhere, where you're equipped with a plastic sheet by your 7 year old guide and then chuck yourself the nearest slope in your best James Bond fashion. Despite numerous showers we were finding sand for days afterwards! In the evenings we got motorbikes along the strip and tried out all the different restaurants and bars...tried grilled barracuda amongst other tasty treats! Heading to the maddness of Ho Chi Minh City in a couple of days.....byeeee
