Tim and Debbie's Travels....
Tokyo is mental....lots of flashing lights and zillions of people everywhere...its quite overwhelming actually.
But we ventured out and have taken in some of the finest sights japan's capital has to offer including Piss Alley, Golden Gai and the famous plastic food kitchenware district.
So OK, piss alley is a tiny alley running along the train tracks with small yakatori (food on sticks) cafes; golden gai is a tiny network of streets with over 200 bars squashed in, all no bigger than the average public toilet and the plastic food is well, just quite cool frankly.
Spent a night at the base of Mount Fuji, there was brief mention of climbing it but sugestions that it was less than 30 degrees at the top soon put paid to that, so we settled for a beautiful view from the lakes.
Spent two hours on a coach, 40 minutes on a boat and walked a few miles to catch a glimpse of this famous iconic symbol of Japan...it wasnt there...so we had another Mr Whippy instead.
We did manage to catch some volcanic action at a rude hour the following morning for about an hour before it disappeared again behind the clouds, and then spent the rest of the day at the amusement park.
The rollercoasters were absolutely amazing, we queued for two and a half hours for a 30 second ride on the worlds newest ride which boasts the record of the most inversions in the fourth dimension..eh? And the pics are really very funny, even if I say so myself!
Spent an interesting interlude in a love hotel with a sunset scene all round the walls, UV lighting and body sonic meaning the bed vibrated to the rhythm of Jon Bon Jovi. Rock on. What else, visited a famous temple and shrine, Tokyo tower, took in the view from the tallest free observatory in the city, partied until the early hours and managed to squeeze in a night in a capsule hotel.
Flying to Hong Kong on Sunday..where am hoping to replace all the electronic equipment I have broken. (two phones, two cameras, one Ipod and Tim's laptop).
Love to all xxx
Postscript: We have met some really great people so far but sadly also some awful individuals including one who just this second invited us to go party with him whilst actually burping in our faces three times consecutively. His invite was politely turned down.
