The only way to get to the airport is by taxi! Cost us $35 between us. Absolutely ridiculous, airport shuttles don't start until 8am! If we had arrived by plane in memphis at this time in the morning we would have been stuck because there weren't even any taxis around outside the arrivals hall. The check in desk was tiny, and there weren't any screens to tell you what flights were going from which gate and if they were delayed; you just had to check your boarding pass and hope it was still the tight one; there was a board which they would change every time there was a new flight! We had our picnic; Ross found a sparrow which had flown in through the doors and of course started feeding it! He made me walk around the other side of the chairs to go to the restrooms because he didn't want me to disturb him! What a pain in the bum, silly wildlife man!
Our plane to Chicago was tiny! There were only 3 seats in each row, crapping my pants! Didn't want to fly in this thing, it's so tiny! Ross couldn't even stand up straight in it, he bumped his head a few times walking up the aisle I think he was trying to punch a whole through it to straighten up like a giraffe!
Really good flight to Chicago we both slept like babies the whole way, coming into land Chicago looks really pretty from up above! It would have been nice if we could have fitted a day in here.
Lucky enough our departure gate to the next flight was only 4 gates away from where we arrived so we didn't have to walk very far.
Washington flight, we had a bigger bird but weren't say together, yet when we sat down I had a spare seat next to me which was odd, why didn't they just put us together in the first place. Couldn't get Ross attention to move him, we was sandwiched between two giants haha. I on the other hand spread out!
We came out of departure doors which I find strange even though we have done it a few times now; we walked miles to get to a train that took us to a separate terminal for baggage claim; there was a transportation desk there which was handy, although even more handy if the man had just given us one option and quit with all the rambling on which we didn't need to know. We eventually got it out of him, got a bus to the metro and a metro into the city centre although the metro took forever because it was Sunday service and tracks where closed which meant delays! Pain in the bottom.
Some friendly people about directed us to our hotel as google maps was confusing me! Our hotel was really nice, we chilled for a little went to the gym and got our sweat on and then headed for the pool on rooftop for a dip; only to find it's shut as it's out of season! I will be writing a letter of complaint!
Anyways we washed Ross's dirty clothes which turned out to be near enough all of his clothes he had brought! Went out for food, found a nice Irish whiskey restaurant and say outside. The weather here is a lot cooler than anywhere else we have been; not cold but just right! Your not sweating every step you take! We are near to a university as there are lot of 'typical students' we fitted right in!
Although every time we sit down for food the restaurant seems to empty, It must be that stale smell we are carrying around with us the 'typical traveller' smell haha!
