Everything went really smoothly to the airport, I think it helped that it was 4am in the morning and nobody about! :)
Straight through to the terminal, Starbucks coffee and straight passed all the gambling machines so that we weren't tempted!
Take off was at 6.10am, smooth ride to Dallas! We landed at 10.40am Dallas time, we are 6 hours behind the UK now! Took forever to drive in the plane to our gate! Our bags came out fast and we waited for the bus to terminal A for the DART Train to west end which I googled is around the corner from our hotel, the crowne plaza (yes, sounds posh and expensive but it was the cheapest we could find on booking in Dallas area!) the metro took 50 minutes, we didn't realise how big the city really was!
The houses have sand like colour bricks and it's very green here! Again a completely different feel to the city, it seems very relaxed and chilled out. That may be due to the heat! It's very old fashion feel to the area we are staying with red brick buildings and feels as though we are in the 60s with the restaurants and bars around the west end metro train stop.
When we walked through the door of the plaza with massive rucksacks on the lobby boy and a women dressed posted laughed and said "backpacking in Dallas!?" Seem surprised mate!? And the receptionist looked up, you know he was thinking these pair are in the wrong place haha. So hypocritical!
We wee lucky and checked in early, our room was nice with a huge flat screen tv and two double beds, overlooking the pool. We decided to chill and get used to the heat (haha) any excuse; we chilled by the pool, the pool was cold but was just right for the heat outside!
Out for dinner tonight, el frenzo across the road was a tex-next. Ross wanted to try a chicken fried steak, it didn't look great but he enjoyed it. I had a steak and chicken fajitas was lovely but loads! Couldn't eat it all. We had a dessert afterwards - pigs! It was this donut pastry with sugar on and chocolate sauce. Not great! We were shattered (again as per usual) so we took a few cheeky beers to the room and booked swamp tours in New Orleans and Ross's accommodation in Washington and Philadelphia for when I leave him!
Much to his disappointment, I caught up on the karadashians on tele then before sleep, I'm sure he secretly enjoyed it! Haha.
