Had a much better sleep last night than the previous two, maybe because I didn’t feel like I was going to fall out every time I tossed. Or the fact I was in a tent, not sure why that would be different mind, maybe the childhood memories haha.
It was fairly light in the tent in the morning so I tried to creep around quietly and go sit outside on the decking but our door had other ideas, I think it’s intention was to wake the entire camp, it was so loud. But what a peaceful and lovely fresh cold morning it was sat on the decking watching the birds god by and still trying to figure out if the mountains in the background were a painting and a figure of my imagination or in fact real.
Ellie slowly rose from bed, she goes on at me for being sleepy dwarf in the morning phwoar, she was a sleepy joe today! Cuppa tea would sort her out and not forgetting to feed her belly. We had breakfast buffet again and sat outside on the grassy area.
Check out, and we were only supposed to have breakfast included but he seemed to like us! We had lunch and dinner included and all our drinks too. Cheap price on a private tour. Turned out to be the cheapest stay yet, £50 each for it all. Not a bad deal!
Then before we knew it we were on the road to last stop of the trip, a long drive today and Ellie was taking the first leg, the quiet one but before we pulled off she put the car in drive and almost rammed us into the hedge haha. God help us! (Inshalla) as they would say!
The ride was smooth enough, and quiet! One long road up to Amman. She got used to the drive fairly quickly. Then stopped with about 1.5 hours to go to fill up petrol, first time this holiday. The petrol lasts a lot longer here than bloody Dubai! And it was cheap, £35 a full tank. I suppose about the same as UAE.
Wadi Rum was long behind us now but it’s called moon valley because it’s like something that’s been taken from the moon, some guy at the petrol station randomly told us that. Didn’t have the heart to tell him that it looked more like mars with the red sand and from photos I’ve seen of the place up there in the sky.
We were almost in Amman, I was driving now Ellie didn’t want to drive in the city, she stuck to navigating, with a wrong turn and a few confusions on her left and right now and again we got to the Sanrock hotel dumped our bags and went to drop the car off.
We had lots of time to kill before Ellie had to get a airport taxi tonight to the airport at 10:30pm so what better thing to do than to walk into the centre of Amman, because we are too epic for a taxi like the usual Jim Bob. Also not sure how stupid these men think we are, 3 men stopped periodically down the road and waited for us to walk past and asked us to get in their car or they would like to drive us. Either they’re idiots and think we are naive or there are really that many naive and silly girls out there that would do that…
8km… in Birkenstock’s is nothing….. only until we were 6.5km in and couldn’t really feel our feet or legs so we stopped when we found a pub sign, the chestnut restaurant and bar. Was not expecting an old Irish pub hidden away it was really nice, that beer went down so well! Cold right to the bottom of my tummy!
Only one then we carried on, our legs didn’t want to take us. We got to Rainbow street. The famous street! Didn’t look very spectacular to be honest, I was very disappointed unless covid had a hit on them I don’t know but anyways we hit the first bar Nirvana had some beers charged the phones and had a nibble before strolling the street again. Next one we went to was Sufra, posh one apparently and where the likes of their prime minister has dined, I mean it was a lovely setting was being juddddddged by the waiter he warmed to us slightly after a while and the food was yummy we had kofta!
Another bar because we had to finish our Instagram reel (of course) we are up there with the travel bloggers and Instagram influencers now, haha. Some other roof top bar, empty. We were the only ones up there.
Careem works in Jordan! Got a taxi back for 3JD. Ellie had a shower and sorted herself out and it was time for her departure! No tears (we were super strong) not long and we will be cheers’ing again!
Opposite sides of the word we are going now, she’s on her way to Bali and I’m going to the US. Haha!
Shukran Jordan, you have been wonderful!
