We got up early and showered ready to be out of the hotel by 7.30am this morning. We were going to catch the sumo training before it finished! It took us half an hour to get to Hamacho district, dodging all the workaholics on their way to the office!
We caught the last 45 minutes of the practice, you could watch for free from the window. The stable is where the sumo's eat, sleep and train. Their bicycles were parked outside (god knows who those skinny bicycle frames supported them!) their washing was hanging up on the balcony above us.
There were about 20 tourists just stood taking photos and watching them train. It's just like a tournament only they keep practicing on one another, there were about 10 of them! They are so big! Tall and wide around the edges, how they can be for and that far I don't know!
We got some udon noodle breakfast at Akihabara station and went back to the room for an hour or so to finish packing and get the last of the views from Mount Fuji; which were awesome!
It's a shame the camera doesn't pick it up just as good!
We checked out and apparently we had already paid on the credit card... Not sure I agreed with the reception desk because it hadn't seen a hotel Lungwood transaction come out from the card in the last month. Not complaining though because they gave me a stamped 'PAID' receipt and we went our for the day; we weren't hanging around there for them to re think it! We will grab our bags and go later haha! (Just incase they change their minds)
I kept trying to recall a transaction that had gone out for the hotels lol day but I couldn't, I'm pretty sure we had the accommodation for free! :/
We went to Ueno and had a look around the national museum of Japan. There were lots of pretty paintings and old 14th and 19th century things on display! The architecture on everything is a lot different to the rest of the Asian countries we have been to!
There was a samari sword collection on display and the samari warrior outfits from the 14th, 16th and 19th century which were pretty cool! They reminded us of the shredder from teenage mutan ninja turtles film! Haha.
The museum made us very larthargic so we got a Starbucks in the park and enjoyed the sunshine whilst making the most of the free wifi. We sat by the big fountain lake afterwards and enjoyed some more sunshine and people watched. There was an extremely drunken man walking in the fountains and acting like a right oddball, he was brilliant entertainment for a while!
Around about 4pm we went for some noodles at the noodle bar we really like in this district and went back to the hotel. Now it's just a bit of a waiting game until we leave for the hotel! I hate waiting for flights it makes me anxious, tired and fidgety!
We sat in the corner away from the reception desk and charged our phones for a little bit before we made a sharp exit to the airport. We left for the airport at what should be 'rush hour' in any normal city; but we are in Japan now and I don't think normal working hours apply because for the lat few days we have noticed that we see lots of what look like 'business looking people' in their suits and posh work dresses don't really cram on to the trains until about 7pm, and even 9-10pm the trains are absolutely rammed full of people. Surely all of these people every night don't go out for food until this late in their works outfits! They do all look exhausted aswell, not many of them can crack a smile.
Also, almost everyone has their head literally in their phones! Whether they are walking or on the train or on the escalator, they don't look up to see where the traffic of people are coming they just hope that everyone will move out of their way! That's one thing that would annoy the s*** out of me if I lived here!
We got to the airport at 6.30pm, only 6 hours to spare... We found the shower room! This is a handy place! We bought half an hour each for a shower, it was AMAZING! The most powerful shower I have had in the last six and half months! We had all the shower products and a fresh towel, a lovely powerful hair dryer! Oh it was heaven! We felt so lovely and clean after it! Just what we need for the start of almost 24 hours of travelling!
We had a free hot drink afterwards aswell, beautiful cup of tea! Then we sat and charged our phones and waited until baggage drop was available for us dump our bags and go through to departure lounge and to begin the process of our last flights of the trip - home.
After we dropped our bags off we went through to departures, we managed to find a little food court for Scott to have some food although he wasn't overly keen on the udon noodle soup once he was eating it. It did taste a little like fish but not good fish; and it was supposed to be beef udon noodle soup! Strange!
We boarded the flight at 00.00am and we were in the air by 00.30am! Let's begin the travel home!
