Last day in the Almalfi coast today, what a lovely time it's been!
I finally had a lie in the this morning, well my body clock and the heat in the room didn't want me to stay asleep too much past 7am but it was nice to roam around and get ready for breakfast in the restaurant downstairs instead of them packing me a 'to go' breakfast.
Very nice ambience in there with the calming music.
The cappuccino was boiling! Instantly makes me think of mum because she always wants a piping hot latte of cappuccino when we get coffee but never happens in the likes of Costa lol. I've never had one so hot I couldn't hold the mug.
After breakfast I made my way to the Sita bus stop and got the bus heading to Almalfi, got off at Fiordo Di Furore beach (the Instagram one) it was very popular even early in the morning with no sunlight on the beach as it was down in between the mountains. Fantastic place and the water I still can't get over, again very different to Greece but incredibly clear! Even yesterday from so high up in the mountains I could see the rocks under the water deep down.
Squeezed myself into a spot on the pebbles and read my book, by the time I looked up the beach was overly full. The sea was too inviting not to get in and even though cold and I'm a p**** at getting into cold water I braised it (only when I knew the sun was almost on my towel so I wouldn't be cold when I got out haha) Dubai has climatized me to un-natural temperatures!
There were guys jumping off the wall to the path coming down to the beach, not landing particularly well I'm sure they're gunna bruise like peaches tomorrow - ouch!
Seen it, got the photos, been in the water - time to move onto the next. I got back to the top of the steps and headed to Almalfi town on the next train.
Not sure what I was expecting as I had only stopped at the sea front for the bus yesterday but little did I know behind the huge wall was a town, with a square and a lovely big church (another one - I'm churched out.)
So I walked through the Main Street, as I predicted more shops with everything lemon on them. The size of the lemons here are incredible they're like cantaloupe melons! How do they make them so big you ask? I don't know. But they taste good!
Lemon sorbet in a lemon was what seemed to be the craze so of course I tried and it didn't disappoint apart from the damn wasps everywhere. Afterwards I got a drink and walked up and around the corner to the next beach - Atrani. Another picturesque beach, they could however on every beach make the free part a little bigger because not everyone wants to pay for a damn sunbed and Brolley.
The sea was rather inviting again and by now it was the hottest part of the day and it was swealtering! (Found out later that there were highs of 48 degrees in Sicily today, perhaps the heat was travelling as far across and up to Almalfi!)
Also found out why Europeans have such wonderful tans… because the majority of them are nudists or just as well should be with the little amount of clothing they have on their bottom half whilst sunbathing topless. If I sunbathed the way they did my boobs would be tucked under my armpits. Bloody Europeans…
I left for the bus around 4:30 sweating like a pig and got off in Positano as I needed a PCR test for travel on Saturday. Only he forgot I wanted PCR and not antigen (both exactly the same thing except PCR costs stupid amount more to send it to the lab and have a certificate to say negative). Money making scheme of course because he did the first test sticking his long mascara brush up my nose and into my eyes and brain and stuck in solution to tell me I was negative, so I asked the question how will I get the negative certificate for travel now? Oops I did antigen not in the test tube to send to lab. "My fault-a I will-a need to do it again-a, come into the back-a room-a. I'm sorry, aye? (That's my Italian accent) two brain tickles for the price of one. Just what you want to give you a good cry.
On the positive note at least I'm negative just annoying I have to pay a stupid amount for someone else to tell me and write negative on a certificate.
Hopped on the noddy bus to go back to the hotel I was done in and wanted to shower and decided on ordering dinner to the room to eat on the balcony.
All packed and ready for the next destination tomorrow, only there seems to be a small happy dog in next door room who has been going wild and scratching the door for what was around 2 hours before I realised where it was coming from, the poor thing must have been overheating in there because the doors seemed to be locked and the rooms were boiling even with my doors open and a fan on.
I contacted reception to have them help but nothing until I went downstairs and then the owners came up, not sure why they couldn't have taken him with them even if there were downstairs eating get a table outside. That's the norm in Europe it seems your dogs go everywhere with you.
