That ding dong from the bus driver to say we have arrived in LA was the best noise ever! I couldn't wait to get into heat!! We got off at union square station. It was a little quieter beating the work rush hour. Got a tap card which cost $1.50 for a one way trip. Metro red line to hollywood/sunset. Couldn't be bothered to take our rucksacks off so we just sat down with them on. Didn't talk much we were just so tired. And we had our jumpers still on so we were so hot aswell. But with no energy to take our rucksacks off and put them back on.we got off the train, much to my disappointment there wasn't any stairs up to street level only elevators. We got in one with two other men, the lifts had windows.. But he pressed the button and nothing happened, went to open the door and it wouldn't open, panic and hot and crapping my pants.. I don't mix well with lifts!! Rang the bell they said someone is going to come help, about 15-20 minutes went passed people just looking at us thinking why they just stood there? Bloody HELP!! After about 20 minutes I looked at the opposite lift and there comes 6 fire fighters in their gear and crow bars to come save us! They looked a little pissed off, haha. Got to the top on street level in the other lift and low and behold, we were a 911 call! Haha, two big fire engines with their lights and sirens on. Haha how funny!!! A massive long walk all the way down sunset boulevard which we thought wasn't long but turned out to be massive!!! It took forever, we had our rucksacks on, I had my fleece on, it was around 22 degrees at 7-8am it's such a different heat compared to San Francisco! After about a 30 minute walk we finally arrived! Couldn't check inn till 1pm so we couldn't have a shower or really shower until then, so we dug deep for our training clothes and went over to Denny's to it down have some breakfast and change. The hotel was like an old fashion motel with the car lot outside the hotel rooms it looked pretty nice, I think if it was on a quiet road with no houses opposite it would have a completely different feel to it, the seedy feel that you see in horror movies or here about in the news. Haha!
After breakfast we made our way to hollywood boulevard with out maps we grabbed from the lobby - loads!! Haha. Can never have too many maps.
Hollywood boulevard is to blocks north of our hotel so it wasn't a far walk, the minute we got on to the boulevard we were immediately on the hollywood walk of fame! It went on forever! The bottom end of the strip (west) was the old hollywood, made sense we had no idea who half of them were! We then got up to where all the lights were and characters of cartoon films dressed up and and we started to know who were on the stars, our era ;)! We seen robin Williams star, it have me gooses pimples it was more like a shrine with all the candles and flowers and signs there. So sad :(
The strip was really busy even at 9am god help at night!
We carried on down towards Runyon canyon park, we just followed all the people in shorts talking in an American accent looking like they were pumped for a hike haha! Lots of people walking their dogs although the dogs look like rats on leads! They're all really tiny like chihuahuas and just fluffy little things!
We hiked through following the crowd, eyes peeled for some celebs, convinced I seen meryl Streep with a big at on shorts and a pink boob tube on and red lipstick but Ross wasn't agreeing! We hiked right through to the end when we got to the top we found the hollywood sign and some AMAZING houses on I think it was called mulway drive. So many beautiful houses, definitely someone famous lives here! We decided to walk out the park and down this drive of all these amazing houses, found a site seeing spot, over looked hollywood bowl and over heard a tour guide mention that the huge house hanging over the rock above us was Sylvia stones house, music producer and keener of stones music productions or something! What an incredible house!!! We walked all down a windy road, only to be met by a highway! Asked a lady where we can get to the hollywood sign, she was like oh your in the completely wrong place!! You guessed it back the way we came!! Up a massive hill winding around, we thought we only walked miles with dad! It's obviously worn off on to us!! Haha. All the back to the top to the park, we ran down as we were sweaty, it saved time and was way easier because of the steepness, everywhere is really dry, they're in a middle of a drought and had a fair few forest fires I think! Back to the hotel to check in and have a shower, we had a well deserved nap after that trek and god awful bus ride here! We were only going to have an hour, we had two and half , these beds are so comfortable!! We went back up on to the boulevard, got a 'hip hop' bus tour into the hollywood homes, we seen absolutely loads! And they were so big it was crazy, they are gorgeous! The fresh prince of bel air mansion, were Michael jackson died, kimye, Simon cowell, playboy mansion, Ellen degeneras, madonna, Morgan freeman, Lindsey lohan, bruce lee, Nicholas cage, Osbourne's Eddie murphy, whitney Houston, john Lennon, omg and so many more I can't even think of my head! For food at California pizza place on hollywood boulevard. Absolutely shattered we got a taxi back to the hotel!
The boulevard was indeed jam packed at night, with lots of people watching street acts everywhere.
Peace out!
