There is such a romantic charm to Sevilla plus one of my very best friends (Anuja) has been living here for the past 3 years. So I took a short flight on Ryan Air to Sevilla for a one day visit but it was so worth it.
As most of you know I seem to meet a lot of people in airports and I seem to meet some of the most interesting people in airports well this time didn't fail me either. I met this really nice couple that are from Hawaii but live in Seattle now. So of course we talked the whole time and I gave them some advice for their visit to Sevilla as this was not my first time there. I come to find out as we are talking that the guy works in Corporate Starbucks in Seattle, LOL, small world right! So of course then we talked about Starbucks for the next hour :) I can't seem to escape it even in Spain, haha. After getting off the plane and saying goodbye and wishing them luck on their travels I see Anuja right there waiting for me! AWESOME!!!!
For those of you that are reading this and know Anuja, she is doing great as always. I have to say it is always so good for me to see all these people that I miss dearly on my travels they really are family to me. Anuja, if you ever get around to reading this I MISS YOU already and THANK YOU for letting me stay with you.
Anuja and I didn't waste anytime since I had such little time in Sevilla. We drop my stuff off and then went to dinner. YUM! Oh how I miss this. The streets are quiet with patches of people congregating outside at outdoor patios for Crevasses and dinner all speaking spanish. As we walk I recognize sites, streets, and places that I sat to watch the people. We arrive to the amazing wonderful little place for small sandwiches and cold soup that was DELICIOUS and I want more. We had wine and of course the best olives I have ever had :) It felt like old times and nothing had changed, this is true friendship! Anuja's boyfriend Marco joined us as we were finishing up. Marco is funny, charming, and though he doesn't speak english he does try and I will say speaks far more english then I do spanish.
We left the restaurant and went to the one building that I didn't see last time I was in Sevilla. Some of you must be asking, But Tiana you spent two weeks there a year and a half ago why did you not see this building? Well the simple answer is that it wasn't finished been built. This building the largest wooden structure in the world so Marco and Anuja tell me and it is pretty cool. Metropol Parasol is beautiful and I have lot of picture to show you. The next morning Marco, Anuja, Anna (Marco's roommate) and I went to the top and took pictures and also checked out the Roman ruins underneath. I remember last time I was here Anuja telling me the city has a hard time building anything new for that reason. Every time they dig they hit ruins.
Anuja, Anna and I went to see a friend of theirs at a hotel and ended up on this beautiful terrance looking at the Cathedral and breath taking views. We had cafe, yum yum :) Coffee for my soul! Anuja had to work so we went and had chocolate con churro and then I was on my own. Sigh...This is what I love! Walking around smelling the air, seeing the sites, watching the people, does it get any better. This reminded me of why I fell in love with Sevilla before. Sevilla truly has a charm like no other and though it was hot I just didn't care. When you are traveling alone it reminds you of who you are. It calms you in a way, makes you feel more confidant and aware of the world around you. It brought me back to the time that I spent here and how much I grew in that time and all the transition that I went through. I guess you can say it took me back to the simple joys in life.
I later sat at a Starbucks for the internet and met back up with Anuja and Anna for dinner. We walked around and got more pictures and then settled on this patio bar Ylang Ylang that Anuja and her friends go to often. We ended our evening with talking over a few drinks and I was a little sad that I couldn't stay longer. The next morning Marco and Anuja drove me to the airport and I gave them huge hugs goodbye. I often don't know what I would do if I didn't have such good friends in my life.
Miss you Anuja <3

Anuja Tiana, te echo de menos tambien (I miss you, too)! Your visit to Sevilla may have been short but it was exactly what I needed to remind me 1) of how lucky I am to have lived here for three years, and 2) that I have amazing friends like you in the states to return to shortly. Thank you for speaking so graciously of Sevilla. It's truly an enchanting place and I, for one, have definitely fallen for it :)
