First thing this morning I woke up to my phone going off and then couldn't go back to sleep. But then the phone calls kept coming with cheerful goodbyes :) It was nice to be up early and take my time getting everything ready. I know I am going to miss home, family and friends but I can't believe this adventure has officially started. It seems like I have been planning this for a year and have been waiting my whole life for this opportunity.
After all my phone calls and packing and repacking checking everything twice, I was off to the airport with Mom. We said our goodbyes and then I got in line for my bag check. That is when I hit a road block :/ The staff wouldn't give me my boarding pass without proof of returning which I didn't have because the ship upon return is docking in Boston (which is great for me). After spending an hour at the counter in tears and speaking to Semester at Sea (SAS) to have them e-mail a letter with proof of return they escorted me to the gate and I was the last to board, whew that was a close one! I start looking for my seat and what do you know I am sitting right next to my new boss Beth :) It was great and a perfect opportunity to get to know each other a bit and not just through facebook, e-mail, and phone calls.
Landed in the Bahamas! Wooohooo I am here, FINALLY!!!! The thing is that there were other people to greet us as well. Instant friends I couldn't ask for anything better. But if you know me you know I make friends easy :) It was all smooth sailing from there;) Michael (stepdad) once asked me, who are my people?, and I have to say I think I might have found my people; adventurers that thrive for what life has to offer in all forms!
Spent the rest of the day walking around Atlantis with Ashley (one of my classmates). Then went to dinner with some of the staff that are already here. Overall life is pretty good!
But I wanted to let you all know that I am safe and excited :) Keep following!
