We had a busy day today.
We have learned to bring in small breakfast snacks to hold us over till street venders open for breakfast here.
At cafes where farangs (gringos) whites go the prices are about the same as US prices.
But if you go to the local thais street market cafes we paid a total of 70 bhts that comes to about $2.00 for our entire meal.
Roy got me a massage :) about $9. for a whole hour. It was wonderful!!
Still trying to talk him into getting a massage as well . Will see.
You can get internet here for about $15. a month. So we are now connected. But what a
process when you don't speak the language. It is so wonderful that Thais are so sweet and willing to help.
That process took up most of the morning but we can now stay connected with all of you most any time .
There is a night walking market in what I think is Chiang Mai central. The book says to get there early. So we showed up at 4pm and so glad we did. They were just starting to set things up, but we got to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.
This starts on one street that they shut down every Saturday afternoon ,and you start walking---and walking--and walking. Then they branch out to alleys , open parking lots and more streets.
The market starts at 5pm to 12pm. but I do not think you could really see everything in one night it is huge.
We walked down one street , it was busy but pleasant.
Then turned around and started to walk back up the other side . We had not gone far before we ran into a mass of people heading down. Talk about going against the grain. It was crazy. I finally got behind a young couple and let them break trail. Much easier, I think they wanted out of the mass as well, because it was a good thing we both know how to walk fast!
We caught a red truck home and on the ways , saw our first accident. Motorcycle didn't fare to well but the cyclist got up and was walking.
With all the cars , taxis , red trucks, and tuk tuks , scooters and motorcycles and bicycles both in Bangkok and here in Chiang Mai in the two weeks we have been here this is the only accident we have seen.
Came home and actually stayed up till 9pm
