We left first thing in the morning. A lovely mountain drive. Hillsides dug by hand and planted with corn.
Pot holes so big there might be a vw bug in it and no one would know.
The construction crews were out trying to get a handle on it. The job is going to be huge!! They do not have very good equipment.
They have had heavy rains and floods the month before we passed thru. Lots of hills came down on the roads and had to be cleared.
We seen huge boulders on the side of the road by the piles. They have a one man cement mixer, mix up a load pour it down to the base of the area they are working on and throw a bunch of rocks in on top of that then start all over again. They slowly build up the side of the road that has slide off.
The higher we go its like Shangra la . Mist on the tops of the high hills . Mountains everywhere and we just keep turning one sharp corner after the other. Climbing higher and higher.
Indian Villages, every few miles. Clean and neat. Tropical everywhere. Lush trees , hillsides that seem to grow lush, lush vegetation.
This is hwy 131, a main road and what a hwy this is!!
It was 130 miles and took us 10 hours. Some incredible views. Finally the heat and humidity are gone. It's so great.
We finally arrive at Oaxaca" Land of Eternal Spring" it stays about 75-85 temp here year around.
Cools down at night for some great sleep.
