Day 6. Aerotucan! Beautiful hotel! Humidity!
Today we have moved over to the coast for the last chunk of our holiday. We were sad to leave Oaxaca city, but very much looking forward to not doing very much by the beach in Huatulco on the Oaxaca Pacific coast. Earlier on in the week, we had booked our flights down to the coast with an airline called Aerotucan. Actually "Airline" might be too grand a title for this bijou company...We got to the airport, checked in our bags as normal, and were then handed our HAND-WRITTEN boarding passes. All fine. At the departure lounge, the same check-in lady came round calling "Aerotucan!", and about 10 of us got up and followed her out on to an airfield around the corner. And there, we found our tiny, 13-seater plane! Amazing. The slightly anxious looking passengers piled in to the people-carrier-with-wings, and we started the most exhilarating flight I've ever been on. Our tiny aircraft took us down to the coast over the Sierra Madre, and we were almost literally skimming the top of the mountains. It was magical, and the views were majestic. Again, this was a marvellous wedding present - the other alternative would have been a six-hour coach journey, which would have been fine I'm sure, but thanks to all your wedding gifts we were able to have this wonderful experience. Thank you again!
So, we have arrived in Huatulco, and the first thing to report is that it is SO hot and humid. I have been drenched in sweat for the last 10 hours. The upside is that out hotel is really beautiful - it's right on the beach, and we have our own private pool on the balcony! Lush. Mojito please!
Other than that, we've not done much really. We walked (yes WALKED, thank you Andrew! Even though taxis are, like, a pound...) into town, and after I'd rung the sweat out of my shirt we had some dinner and a few drinkos. But that's about it for today! More tomorrow!!xx
