Day 8. Birthday! Swimming! Pizza!

I'm a day late writing this one! Yesterday was my 33rd (gulp!) birthday, so I started the day opening some lovely cards and prezzies from Andrew. We decided to go into town for breakfast, but naturally everywhere we wanted to go was closed AGAIN! After wandering in the tropical heat and humidity for a while, we found a restaurant that was open, had welcoming staff and a good menu. Sadly, it was also the HOTTEST PLACE ON EARTH. The food was good and everything, but oh my gosh it was hot. Andrew had a strange experience at the bagno - the only thing dividing the toilet from the street was a shower curtain. The combination of a tsunami of sweat from me and Andrew basically going to the toilet at the side of the road led to a rather uncomfortable breakfast for both of us.

So we came back to the hotel, and the rest of the day really picked up. It was beautiful - we sunbathed, read and swam all day long. We had cocktails. I had a cheeseburger for lunch. It was a perfect birthday for me! We rounded off the day with some pizza (actually, LOADS of pizza) and beers in an air-conditioned restaurant (wahoo!).
