Day 7. English breakfast! Sunbathing! Mozzie bites!
We've really not done much today! Which has been lush. I woke up slightly disturbed to see a massive turtle staring back at me, then remembered it was one of the hotel's colourful and bizarre decoration choices (see pic!). This morning we got a taxi (RESULT!) to town for some breakfast. I opted for the traditional Mexican brekkie - a full English! Hooray! Andrew despaired, but it was bloody great. Nothing else was really open in town, as it was a Sunday, so we hotfooted it back to the hotel for some serious sunbathing on our balcony. Did I mention we have a little pool on our balcony? Oh yes, we have a POOL ON OUR BALCONY! And, as the hotel wifi is good, we listened to Elaine Paige on Sunday whilst splashing around. It was bliss! Andrew has quite a bad cold, but he's being very stoic about it, so he bravely agreed to a little saunter up the beach, and we dipped our toes in the Pacific for the first time. Heaven.
So we spent most of the day generally sun worshipping, and then this evening went to Santa Cruz (the other part of town) to have dinner at a little place called Cafe Huatulco. It was a great little cafe, a kind of converted bandstand with al fresco tables all around it, and they played really cool jazz and had a yummo menu of Mexican delights. However, I have never ever experienced heat and humidity like this before. I was sat completely motionless, but still looked like I'd just run a marathon, in a suit, through the Sahara desert. Because of this, I was catnip to the mozzies, and bitten to death. I moaned a LOT (poor old Andrew...) but after a couple of Coronas everything was rosy again! We had some delicious food, and we will definitely go back there.
But that's all, folks! I have a feeling these last days will be pretty chilled out...All I have to worry about now is turning THIRTY-THREE tomorrow! That's crept up on me...but I'll have a lovely setting in which to celebrate!
Adios!xxx
