The Simple Life
Koh Samui - This is the manner we're more accustomed to, yippee luxury at last! Comfortable beds and pillows, crisp clean white sheets, proper duvets, bathroom with a door, maid service, TV, minibar, hot shower. About time too!!
Koh Samui is different from the other islands, its a proper holiday resort, loads of 5* hotels, bars, restaurants and shopping.
Our 1st night we planned to have a quiet one, suss out where the best bars were but none too surprisingly we ended up drinking in a few. True to our usual style some mad american woman asked whether her friends could join us as they thought we were hot. Needless to say they definitely were not! A sharp exit was required!
Spent the next day chilling on the beach but the sun was doing its hide and seek trick again. We had a big evening planned so needed the extra time to beautify ourselves anyway. The Audiow****s were dj'ing in the Mint Bar and we were looking forward to some good tunes. We were not disappointed, the bar wouldn't have looked out of place in Shoreditch (London), the tunes were rockin', the crowd was up for it and we danced our asses off as usual. Our night wouldn't have been complete without a few hot men and there were 2 ozzies (Tommy and Liam) who obliged!! Good dancers, well dressed, cool hair - clearly we thought they were gay! But, much to our delight they were straight hehehehe........ We continued partying with them at Solo Bar and finally fell into bed about 6am.
As usual the hangover ruled the day and we lazed in our fabulous beds watching TV and eating (surprise surprise). Later on we dragged ourselves out, had a McDonalds, updated the website and never got to see the planned ladyboy show. Swollen glands, headache, our bodies were finally packing up on us! Headed to Boots - antibiotics, bottle of water and bed.
Hogmany was spent lazing on the beach discussing outfits for the occasion. We had decided to go back to Koh Phagnan for the countdown party as we'd had a ball at the full moon party. Heading back from the beach we couldn't find a jeep taxi so apologies parents but we jumped on a motorbike taxi instead. Interesting experience! We giggled and screamed like 2 teenagers, the poor driver was quite exasperated. We took some very funny photos!
We were due to catch a speedboat at 9:30pm and whilst waiting we met a couple of scottish boys from Musselburgh! Got wet wading out to the speedboat and arrived in Koh Phagnan 20 minutes later looking slightly dishevelled.
First stop was the Outback Bar for some vodka and house tunes. Chatted to loads of people from East London and we felt like we were back at home! Decided to go down to the beach just after 11pm, with a vodka bucket in tow. Haha the first people we bumped into were Tommy and Liam from Koh Samui. Chatted to them for a while but had to head to the Big Boom Bar to see in the bells with our favourite sounds. If possible the beach was even busier than the full moon party and the atmosphere was rocking. There was fireworks, fire dancers, then finally the countdown, much cheering and dancing. Can't believe that we'll only have about 3 weeks of 2005 in the UK - GO ON MY SON......
We met up with Andy and a couple of his mates at Big Boom bar and he had a sexy irish friend called Ken who Lyndsay befriended! Much to Lynne's surprise and delight, australian guy Tommy came to Big Boom Bar looking for her so the rest of the evening was spent there.
Our speedboat back was booked for 7am and it was an experience to say the least. Firstly we had to wade through waist deep water to get on the bloody boat, then it proceeded to jump through the waves at 700mph spraying us with ice cold salt water. Interesting! Lets just say speedboats, vodka buckets and hangovers don't go hand in hand. To make matters worse we had a bumpy 20 minute bus journey at the other end to contend with also. Fell into bed just after 8am and felt that ill we couldn't even sleep. Possibly it was due to the fact that we shouldn't have been drinking on the antibiotics, oops! New Years Day was a wash-out. We managed to drag our sorry asses out for some comfort food in an irish bar but it did little to aleviate the washing machine effect in our stomachs and heads. We vowed never to drink again.
Due to the effects of Tsunami in Malaysia it was recommended that we didn't visit so we have decided to spend another week in Thailand and where else but Koh Phagnan! Yes, we are determined to kill ourselves partying.......
