Here is a pic of Skip for you!!!
And how cool I can plot Thetford Reef on this thing, which is the reef where we visit on the boat by the way! Ah so I have been having lots of fun...sorry to bore you with saling stories but it is awesome! I now provide all the amusment on the Vagabond and will go down in Vagabond history as being the clumsiest member of staff!!! Not only was the jelly fish sting bad enough but the other day, on the way out to the reef I managed (during 25 knots of wind may I add) to be sent flying to the otherside of the bathroom where I managed to put a massive hole through the wall!!!!! The trip before last I ended up falling off the boat before we even left the marina and ended up with a huge scrape on my knee. Which is a terrible place to have a cut when saling I have found out!!! So maybe im not sut out for the saling stuff but they havent fired me yet lol. I have also been promised a pay rise if I dont hurt myself or the boat over the next trip. Im on strike one already as the razor sharp cheese grater cut my finger!!! (By the way mum im making homemade coleslaw now with secret ingredient X and it goes down a storm!!!) 'And this is Scabbers who will be preparing all your meals during your visit to the Barrier Reef LOL...how embarrassing really. Paul, the skipper loves to tell all the guests my little stories...at night over a few beers whilst looking at the stars and playing a game called Vagabondage...dont ask!!!!! Dont even mention the time I went out to the Woolshed and arrived to work late and I wasnt even at my house. I still havent lived that one down!!!
Ah its awesome saling over the big blue though. On the way back into Cairns yesterday I spotted our first Whale of the season, awesome. It was a minke whale I think! Cool though. Lisa (Dive instructor) and I were screaming with excitment and we nearly had a man overboard situation!!!!
We have had some emergency drills to do aswell! We asked a group of guests to help us act out a situation, ah it was so funny. Muster stations are called and lifejackets and whipped out and thrown on deck. Im also slightly concerned that if there was an emergency i am the one who has to get everyone a life jacket and remember to grab the device that would save our lives above any other, the Global tracking device!!! EEEKKK!!
But yeah loving the job a whole lot its fab!!!!!! So relaxing saling and listening to Bob Marley on the way home, fantastic! We have two private charters coming up, one is for 7 days and the other is 8 days, oh man i hope the people are cool otherwise its going to be really tough. I know the second group is 5 guys aged 27 to 34 so that will be good! I will be out on my birthday aswell, but thats still no excuses for forgetting ok!!!!!! Hopefully we will get to see some amazing things though!
Anyhoo theres some funny stories for you all, hopefully keeping you as amused as the Carins population ha!!
love Becs xxx
