Days 615-621, 9-15 Feb '16, Chinois! Vegemite! Gales! And not much else... OK. More Gales!
If I said it was a quiet week, I'd be lying. We are actually lucky the house wasn't picked up in Wizard of Oz fashion and dropped on Paris. We had howling gales and rain for a fair old part of the week. Major highlight of the week was the receipt of a shipment of vital supplies - not from the Red Cross per se... but rather from James's mum Joan - an absolutely vital shipment of Vegemite. Bliss - hot butter and vegemite on toast was the first thing we did when the package arrived. After all the excitement, in a quiet moment, we drove to Cognac to satisfy a craving for Asian food at a very popular buffet joint (you know it's popular when four or five different people, albeit all ex-pats, recommend it.) That kept us entertained and we made it home before the rain kicked off again. It was so wild (phone lines down etc) we even cut our walk short one day to ensure we didn't get squashed by stray, flying debris. We had folks over for dinner one night - the pavlova they brought for dessert actually lost some crust in the wind as they walked to the front door. Anyway... weather aside, a quiet week with hard frosts, fine weather and blue skies predicted for the next couple of days. Yay! Sightseeing can occur!
