Ria's Travels around USA!!!
Hay Girls and Guys :-)
How are you all???
Well can you believe it...a week from now and I'll be outta the States :-( BOOHOOHOO!!!!
But not forever!!!!
So...CHICAGO
Well...I must say am so lucky that I've had the chance to visit some lovely places, and Chicago is defiantly one of them...its such a great place.
It's one of them places I would defiantly want people to come back and see with me...it's lush. The hostel I am staying in is 2 blocks away from Michigan Lake and the views from the bay are just out of this world. There are these massive rocks piled up that you can climb up and just sit at the top looking out over the lake but its so huge it looks like the ocean its so beautiful. No picture will capture it...
It's nice as well because its got the hussle and bussle of the city which I just love!!! But you can walk 5 blocks down the road and be at the beach...Well I say beach but its actually the lake, I think they must import sand because they've turned parts of the lake into beaches and its gorgeous, got lots of pics so you can see for yourself...
Well when I first got here the first thing on my agenda was the 'Chicago Bulls' stadium so off I went :-) Unfortunately it was closed for the season but there was a great big statue of Michael Jordan outside that cheered me up :-) He's so cute!!!
HeHe
Its weird because about 2weeks before coming 2 america I had a dream about a city that had these big over powering buildings that were tall and dark and would just swallow me up :-) weird I know, but Chiago looks exactly how it did in that dream, but being here amoung it was such a different feeling...so, I faced my fear :-) HeHe.
One of the days was an all free day :-) I'd spent quite abit the day before so I wanted to even things out abit, so I went to
- The bay and spent a few hours walking along the beach and through the docks, its such a nice place if you just wana sit and take in the views and the city, its just so pretty. Took lots of pictures of downtown chicago and the pretty gardens you can walk through...
- Lincoln Zoo and that was absolutely brilliant, I've never gone to a zoo like it before. You can get so close to the animals. I swear if the lion wanted to he could of easily jumped over the fence. HaHaHa. Maybe not that bad but that's how it looked. Oh I seen a baby Pumba :-)
- I went to the Art Gallery!!! That was funny...I was walking around pretending I knew what I was looking at...this guide came up to me and was like we have an 'exquisite Spanish gallery upstairs...the biggest in the word..I think you'd like it' I was like yeah yeah sure....HA, good stuff though
- I went to Millennium Park and that was nice, we need more places like this back home, although saying that there was this exhibition showing all the luxury gardens from all around the world and good old 'Chatsworth' was one of them in Derbyshire...I was like COME ON!!! Telling everyone I live near there...I've been there. HaHaHaHa. Proper geeky!!!!
BUT OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!! SHOCKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
I was walking to the bus station and I seen this girl, I thought she looked familiar...but I though neah surely not...we're all the way in Chicago, so I stood behind this pillar so I could get a good look...and oh my gosh its WAS a girl I went to school with in DERBY...
ALL the way in Chicago...you just cant go anywhere can ya :-) HaHaHa we had a good laugh about it, she's here doing summer camp, and for all the Noel Baker crew :-) it was Tina, Sally's cousin....small world!!!!
Oh yeah I went to Sears Tower, the biggest building in Chicago...110 floors and the observation deck went up at 103!!! MASSIVE!!!
Well peps I think that's about it...overall Chicago has been great!!!
Am off to Boston tomorrow and as a student (ish) am quite excited about it...
So I'll love ya and leave ya
Take care everyone
Love ya and miss ya lots
