Ria's Travels around USA!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If there was just one word to describe my experience here that would be it..... times about a thousand more WOWS!!!!! but I guess that would be a thousand and one words....oh well....hehe :-)
I arrived here about 10pm Thursday night, and it was quiet an emotional arrival, firstly i'd traveled for like 36hours :-( my legs had swollen up from the bites :-( and I'd walked about half a mile in the wrong direction to what
I thought was my hostel :-( so when I finally got there....put my bags down n crashed out I cried like a little baby :-) haha. Needed to be done!!!! A good nights sleep was all I needed....
Woke up Friday ready to go. I'd booked to go on the Grand Canyon tour with the hostel, and let me just say my tour guide was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry karl...a girl needs a little eye candy at times like this :-) hehe) it was such a good day. When we got there he made us all put our hands over our eyes and hold onto the person in front of us and walk about 20 meters like that, it was so funny (proper health hazard...) everyone must have thought we were mad...but anyway he lined us up (still hands over our eyes) and the suspense was killing me....but it was well worth it, cus after 1.....2....3....DAM!!!!!!!!!! It was absolutely out of this world. Even thinking back to it at this moment just made my heart jump a beat :-) honestly it was that amazing, but i've got the feeling no pictures or explanations will ever give that place justice its just surreal....
all of us just stood there for about 2mins in silence in complete ore. we were like little dots standing next to the Grand Canyon it was just MASSIVE!!!! nothing can match that sight I tell ya.... I was 'happy snappy' from the moment I got there so I hope you can see slightly what it was like. I really hope so cus it was just BEAUTIFUL :-)
after about 2hours, we had lunch on this ledge thing hundreds of feet up just looking out to the south rim of the canyon. It was absolutely out of this world, I was saying to mum, friday lunch times at work will never be the same again :-( it was just great!!!!
People were going right up to the edge and having there pictures taken, I didnt wana risk it, I'd already got through Texas alive I wasn't going to risk it all now.
hahahahahaha
After lunch we went hiking...that was fun, learnt about the canyon and how it got there and how it got its shape n all that... quite interesting actually :-) the hike was good cus we got to walk about a mile down into the canyon, although when we were down there looking back up we all regretted it big time cus it was so hot and it looked so steep, took us double the time to get back up. MISSION I TELL YA!!!!! PHEW!!!! Well worth it tho....
We then drove about 5miles down the road and seen more of the Colorado river, it was so weird because it looked so small from where we was but it was like 300feet wide and it was that that made the canyon how it was....weird.
You can drive for hours and hours and still not see the whole of the grand canyon. Suppose it didnt get its name for being small.... DOH!!!
The tour was so much fun, definatly goes up there with the top things....I was dead worried when I first got there, cus everyone was foreign on the tour except these 3 English guys n one of them....Tom kept me company all day n just stayed with me from the min we got there till we got back at the hostel, bless him, I would of been a right loner otherwise (So Tom if you manage to log on here, THANKYOU!!!, your a diamond and also thanks for putting up with all my rests and water breaks...not the fittest person around i know :-) hehehehe)
We were there the whole day and it was just amazing, you just cant get bored....defo a place to go in the future. we just kept saying to each other...OH MY GOSH....it was just brilliant. brilliant. brilliant :-)
