Doing nothing #4

Up at the crack of 930. We taxied into the Senggigi CBD to book our transport to backpacker Gili, get cash (no ATM on the islands) and buy some second hand books (hard times eh?).

Mission accomplished, on the transfers and ATM, A-lo went back to the second hand book kiosk and beat the owner down to 60K (2 quid each - I still say we were ripped off but desperate measures…) for 2 good condition recent novels. What a backpacker eh?

It was hot! Only one thing for it: lounger under the parasol at the Pool Villas pool. Swam, read x 5 with lunch and sundowner thrown in at appropriate time of the day. No photos today as it's difficult to capture the spirit of inactivity on pixel. Chatted to another Dutch couple in the pool - some of the first self-styled "flash packers' we have met, but away for 5 months.

Disappointing final sunset because of too much cloud over Bali. Rob the surfer-hawker had a final cheeky attempt to beg me to give him my shorts. Snuggled on the lounger with our drinks until dark. What a moment!

I am writing this between courses at the Asmara restaurant. Grilled prawns and tuna carpaccio a promising start, however the Lombok pineapple wine certainly won't win any awards.

We are up early to head back to Gili Trawangen for 3 nights. We are arriving at 0930 without any pre-booked accommodation, a first in our entire relationship! Gulp! A-lo is slowly but surely turning into a backpacker!
